2011 Citizen of the Year
The town of Willcox, Arizona recently announced its 2011 Citizen of the Year
Brother Marlin (Mick) S. Easthouse, 32º.
In announcing their 2011 Citizen of the Year, the following comments about Brother Mick were made by Presenter, Bill Nolan:
This year’s Citizen of the Year was born in Watertown, South Dakota, and came to Willcox as a young boy. His favorite story of how his family ended up in Willcox is—we all got in the car and my Dad drove till the car quit and Dad said, "well, this is as good a place as
any" so they became residents of Willcox.
His heart and soul has been dedicated to the ongoing growth and development of this community as witnessed by the positions he has held in many organizations—he served on the Willcox City Council for 20 years including 10 years as Mayor of Willcox.
He has been involved with the Masonic Lodge for 30 years and is currently District Deputy Grand Master—Mick has served 10 times as Worshipful Master of his Masonic Lodge, and is also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Sabbar Shrine—for the past 20 years, Mick has been a member of the Willcox Rotary Club and is its past president and is currently a member of the Willcox Elks Lodge.
When it came Mick’s turn to speak he joked that he has stayed in Willcox all these years because he never made enough money to leave. He went on to say "when you go to Phoenix or Tucson and have to fight all that traffic, then you’re coming home and once you get past Benson
and the traffic thins out—Willcox on the horizon looks pretty good."
Congratulations Brother Mick !
