Worshipful Brother Barry Sherman Hirsch entered the Celestial Lodge on June 15, 2015 in Tucson, AZ.
His obituary is attached. Brother Hirsch was very active in the Gila Valley community and served Safford Lodge #16 F & AM as Worshipful Master in 1976.
Rest in Peace Brother Hirsch.
While Safford Lodge 16 is dark for the months of July and August we do have some work to accomplish and some social time to schedule (mark your calendars):
A Fellowcraft Degree has been scheduled for Monday, August 3rd at 7 PM.
And a social time, that we will call "The Cosmos Night," (pot luck dinner - Lodge furnishing the main course) has been scheduled for all Masonic groups and the public for Tuesday evening, August 25, at 6 PM.
WB Philip Rhea and his new bride, Cynthia, will provide music for the occasion and WB John Ratje will provide a PowerPoint program on Astronomy in the Southwest with a brief (faster than light) tour through the Great Architect's Universe.
Family and friends are invited. We might even have time for Brother Benjamin Franklin, one of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, to talk with our newly passed Fellowcraft Brothers (degree on August 3rd). Plan to join us for a great time of fellowship.
Our next stated meeting will be at the usual time: Tuesday, September 1st, at 7 PM.
Clara and Bonnie, we hope the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution can join us for the evening festivities.
Have a great summer...
I would like to announce the first Lodge of Instruction to be held in Cochise County in a long time. It will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 9:30 AM at the Sierra Vista Masonic Center. If you are local and can make it, it would be a good opportunity to learn a little more about our ritual and how it is performed.
If you need another reason to attend, this event is a requirement for the Builder and Architect Awards, as well as the Ashlar Award. All of us have room for improvement in our ritual and this is a good time to learn from each other, and the book. Hope to see many of you there.
