Our 'whole' can be much greater than the sum of some of its parts; in sum, our missing parts are needed.
From Worshipful Master Donald E. Milligan PM
My Brothers,
The Lodge Education Action Team/Committee planned, organized, and executed an excellent Entered Apprentice Lodge of Instruction on Monday night, February 18th. It was for the benefit of Entered Apprentices who received hands-on officer Stations and Places experience under supervision.
During the break and circle lecture/discussion everyone, including members of visiting Lodges, Adobe 41, Jerusalem Daylight 66, Builders 60 and their EA's, warmly received and interacted with the information provided.
If for some reason you were unable to attend, you missed an outstanding event. Part two of the session is in the planning stages. By the nods of agreement and understanding of the Master Masons present and the warm glow of young faces at this event, I know that Masonry is still alive and well. If we can only reach those interested and get them involved, then the craft will flourish as in years past. So please reach out to that great upstanding young man you think so much of - and get him involved!
For all members who seek more light in Masonry, I would invite you to our Lodge Web Site. It is as simple as typing in "Marion McDaniel Masonic Lodge 66" then go to "search" to get it. Once there go to "About Masonry" along the top of the page. You can find "What is Masonry" and eighteen other subjects before "Seeking Further Light". Our Lodge web site is chock full of informative information we all should frequently seek out for constant enlightenment because the item you see today could be gone tomorrow.
I would encourage everyone to mark their calendar for the April Stated Meeting as an important date for you and your family. That evening after dinner everyone will be invited into the Lodge for a short portrayal of a Masonic funeral, open the session to questions, and give out special forms which will be discussed. Everyone is welcome to attend this event. It is designed to assist your family in planning to comply with your wishes as you pass to the Celestial Lodge, above.
I have also sent out raffle information to each of you, for a special raffle program to benefit the Lodge and its Charities. Take a look inside that envelope! Which brings to mind a quote: "Yesterday is a canceled check. Tomorrow is a promissory note. Today is the only cash you have, so spend it wisely"...Kim Lyons
From the West: BR Gilbert A. Schlierer, Senior Warden
Marion McDaniel Lodge having just conducted a successful Masonic Funeral Service for BR Cecil Derr, leads me to
ask "were you there?" As Masons we take oaths, make many promises. One of the most important is to demonstrate the
"Friendship and Brotherly Love of the Lodge".
Perhaps the most meaningful way we can do that is to stand with our Brothers right to the edge of Eternity—to the edge of the grave. So I ask, "Were you there?" You might say, "I really didn't know Brother Derr." But I think that is all the more reason to attend.
We are Brothers all and we should show it, live it, and be there to support each other—at a funeral, at Lodge, in life...and yes, in death. Someone once said that 90% of success in life is just showing up. That could apply to Freemasonry as well....so.....I guess that means I'll be seeing you
in Lodge for our next Stated Meeting?
From the South: Charles R. Barnes PM, Junior Warden
The Plumb Line, presented to the Master of a lodge at his installation, is amongst many working tools in our profession.
In Masonic terms the Plumb Line teaches us a standard of judgment or principle in moral righteousness, which will lead
us to immortality.
Take care and govern yourselves accordingly.
Remember, YOU Are The Lodge – Bring It Back HOME!
