From Worshipful Master Jim Wild PM
As we start another Masonic year let us look forward to a year of great happenings in Marion McDaniel
Lodge. We are blessed with a great set of officers who will do all they can to make 2012 a memorable year.
All we need is for you to attend your Lodge and support these officers in their work. There are many ways for
you to get involved. You can come to meetings and take part in the degree work. There are parts which require
no memory work. We often need Brothers to fill in when an officer is sick or unable to attend a meeting.
You can get involved in the various activities of the Lodge. A very gratifying activity is the “Bikes for Books”. The
faces of those little ones when we pull up at their school with a truck full of bikes is something you won't soon
forget.
A program started by WB Henry Spomer for the Lodge is very important to our candidates as well as for the
Lodge; it is the Candidate Education Program. We need Brothers willing to help us sit down with the
candidates as they go though the degrees and help educate them on Masonry. You may even learn some new
things about Masonry yourself. Contact WB Henry and lend your support to this very important program.
Come out to the next Stated Meeting and take a look at what is going on. Since you will be coming to the
meeting, why not come to dinner at 6:30 before the meeting. You will be well fed. Wives, girl friends, and
prospective members are always welcome. Come on by and see what's going on. You may well be very
surprised. After all it is YOUR Lodge, support it.
Words to live by: Life is not a problem to be solved, but a gift to be enjoyed.
From The Lodge Sunset Station: WB Don Milligan SW
Brothers,
I am deeply honored that you chose me to fulfill this position. I have been this way before and
know the serious challenges that a Senior Warden’s position has in the Lodge; I will not take it lightly. If, as an
older member of OUR Lodge, I am up for the challenge of this job, then anyone should be able to come to
Lodge, join in the work, enjoy themselves, and make our lodge just a little better for having contributed to its
achievement.
Recall the night our RW Grand Senior Warden visited. If you listened and remember all those
good things he had to say about Marion McDaniel Lodge, you can just stand up a little straighter and thrust your
chest out a little more and smile, knowing that we are just about the cream of the crop of Arizona Lodges.
We owe it to the hard work of our Officers, Past Masters, and Brothers who have jumped up to fill positions as
needed and who show that Masonic pride we all possess, or should. So, Brothers, I encourage you all to come
to YOUR lodge, roll up your sleeves so to speak, and get involved. I assure you that you will be rewarded in
ways that you may not have experienced before.
Coaches - We always seem to need brothers to coach a new member toward his proficiency. If you are at all
inclined to help a new Brother on his way through our degrees by coaching him, I would like you to contact me.
Again, this task in not very demanding and is just full of pay back.
From The South: BR Gil Schlierer JW
First and foremost it’s time, right from the start, to express my humble gratitude at being chosen to serve the
Lodge as Junior Warden for 2012. It’s an honor not to be taken lightly and I will do my best to be of service in
whatever way I can. (More experienced brethren, jump in at any time with suggestions).
I hope we can build on our new-found stability in the officer line as we go thru the year and we have several
very fine candidates coming into Lodge on whom I hope we can rely. The newly re-instituted Candidate
Education Program I’m sure will help in this regard.
The more we can teach new Masons about the Craft, the
more enthusiastic I believe they will be…so let’s plan on an exciting and profitable year at Marion McDaniel
Lodge. It will take the active participation of all and I know you will want to be a part of it.
