From Worshipful Master Jim Wild PM
We have gotten the year off to a great start. If you missed the January stated meeting, you missed some very important Lodge activity. We were proud to present WB Henry Spomer with a Cornerstone Award for all his hard work and many hours on behalf of Masonry in general and Marion McDaniel Lodge in particular.
BR Jay Allen will be heading up our Annual Yard Sale in the Fall. If you have items we could sell, contact Br Jay to arrange for pickup or drop-off. This is one of the fund raisers we have for Lodge activities and charitable contributions. It may seem early to be talking about a yard sale that will take place in October, but this activity takes a great deal of time and work to put together. If you would like to help BR Jay, I am sure he will be happy for any assistance (BR Jay Allen’s phone number is 444-9491).
BR JW Gil Schlierer will be chairing the summer ice cream social. I hear there will be something unique taking place this year. This looks to be a very exciting activity. More news on this will be coming from Br. Gil.
We raised our newest Master Mason on January 16th. Brother Pat Zech is another fine addition to the Lodge Rolls. BR Pat has been participating in Lodge activities, and I'm expecting to see great things from this Brother.
February will be another exciting month for YOUR Lodge. I already know what will be served at our stated meeting dinner. It will be fitting for rodeo month, and if you miss this one you will have missed a good one. Come on out on February 6th and see for yourself. We all would like to see you at YOUR Lodge.
Words to live by: Make each day count as though it were your last. WMJ

Brothers, don't you just love this time of year, warm sunny lazy days, just knowing what will come after those winter showers? Of course, spring flowers - but also the weeds and grass as well. Anyone can certainly get excited about Mother Nature’s experiences at various stages of the year. Our Lodge is sort of like Mother Nature in that proper daily influence upon prospective members brings out those Masonic membership flowers. Those of us who choose to sit at home on meeting nights are probably missing out on lots of Masonic flowers all during the year. Of course, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and can only be properly viewed in person when the situation arises.
I can tell you that some of us saw flowers blooming all over the Lodge the evening of 16 January. So, if you have not attended Lodge for six months or more, please come out to the next Stated Meeting. Be there at 6:30 PM and the dinner is on me. Just please make yourself known and enjoy your meal with great fellowship.
I am not exactly sure what is on the menu for that evening but we always get 'fed' real well. If you do not have time to go home from work to change clothes, please just drop in because you are always welcome regardless of your dress. Just come hungry for food and Masonic fellowship. Of course, if you have a prospective member who would like to meet with us, they eat for free; our welcome mat is always out for them.
All Brothers, please come to YOUR LODGE and watch the NEW LINE of OFFICERS work during the next Stated Meeting.
From The South: BR Gil Schlierer JW
Heading into month two of this new year, and heading toward spring, it's time to plan for the various events this year will bring. As our Worshipful Master pointed out, I have been tasked, among other things, with planning for this year's Ice Cream Social. While we do not yet have a date for the event [June 16 is penciled in], there are exciting possibilities to think about for that event.
It has been suggested that we serve old fashioned home-churned ice cream in several flavors. It's surely not something you can get many places and I hope it would be an interesting idea for the Brethren, family and friends. Any further suggestions about this event or others you might like to see at Lodge would be most welcome.
It is your Lodge and anything we can plan that would entice folks to come back to Lodge this year is something I want to hear about. Your ideas are more than welcome!
Remember, YOU Are The Lodge – Bring It Back!
