- Club News - October, 2010
Our October meeting was well attended with 37 present. We covered a lot of business and are getting ready for our Ceremonial on the 16th of October. Our nominating committee turned in the names for those who are willing to serve as our officers next year.
Congratulations to Larry Lee on being our Shriner of the Month. It was well deserved for all Larry does for our club.
We had 8 Nobles and some of their ladies show up to greet the people attending the circus. There was a large turnout and most of the seats were filled. A lot of kids with big smiles and enough excitement to keep the parents busy.
Below are photos of Noble President Lane Buckley receiving a $500.00 donation from Lonna Steeples, Manager of the Circus, and the Nobles who attended.

- Hospital Trip June 9, 2010 -
On June 9th, 7 Nobles and 6 Ladies from the Lake Havasu City Shrine Club set off for a visit to Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. We traveled as far as Mesquite, NV where we stopped for the night. Being in Nevada, we could not resist staying at a Casino Hotel.
Noble Don Gray, Lady Cathy Gray, Noble Harry Bremner and Lady Sally Davis, Noble Terry Nichols and Lady Alexis Nichols, rode their motorcycles. Noble Lane Buckley, Lady Laura Buckley, Noble Les Galst , Lady Jo Black, and Noble Harvey Sanford rode in a van.
After checking in at the hotel, we cleaned off the road dirt, ate and saw the sites of the casino. Ask Noble Harvey how his luck was. Check out his armored truck on the Photo Page that was used to haul his money around. HA
The next day we were off again, and this time our destination was Salt Lake City, minus Nobel Don Gray, who headed back to LHC due to illness. Arriving in Salt Lake City we met Noble Larry Lee and Lady Ilean Lee at our motel. Bright and early the next day we 12 visited the Shriner’s Hospital for Children and saw a beautiful facility. We met several of the staff.
One of which was a technician who made prosthetics for our children. Some of the prosthetics were made with cartoon caricatures and nature scenes. The craftsmanship and dedication was unbelievable.
After our visit we all headed back to Mesquite and rested for the final push back to LHC the next morning.
Great trip for us Nobles and our Ladies. Check out our photos on the Photo Page.
Yours in the faith,
Noble Harry Bremner
Treasurer

We had a good May meeting. We had about 45 in attendance. The entertainment was outstanding. The Dixie Belles did several dance numbers and Peggy Wilson sang several songs. The Dixie Belles are made up of a group of young ladies, must be at least 70, and they do a fantastic job of dancing. Their choreographer is unbelievable. Peggy Wilson is 85 and still has the voice of a 20 year old. This was really enjoyed by all. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I didn’t get any pictures.
We had a reading of a by-law change that will be sent to the Temple in Phoenix for the Potentate's action.
Noble Harry Bremner gave a report on the upcoming visit to the Salt Lake City Hospital. They will leave Lake Havasu on June 9th and spend the night in Mesquite, NV then travel on to Salt Lake City on the 10th. They will stay overnight in Salt Lake and visit the hospital on Friday with a BBQ lunch.
Contact Noble Harry at bdent1167@npgcable.com
or Lane Buckley at lanebuckley@frontier.com for more information.
Noble Bill Cohrt gave a report on the onion sales and things were going great. Note: We sold out the next day. Click HERE to view photos of the crew unloading the onions when they came in.
Dear Nobles and Ladies,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in our Shrine Annual Onion Sales for the Shrine Hospitals.
First of all thanks go to President Lane Buckley and his Lady for letting us use their garage to store the Onions; to all of the volunteers that participated in the unloading of 7,000 lbs. of Onions; to the Team Leaders for the fantastic job of organizing and scheduling the teams at Smiths, K-mart and Bashas Stores.
To all of the Nobles and Ladies, Masonic Brothers for their unselfish efforts in selling all of the Onions.
Again thanks, Bill Cohrt 2010 Onion Chairman
Noble Terry Nichols gave a report on the next fund raiser at his house in September or October. After, we return from the summer break. We will be dark June, July, and August. Everyone have a great summer.

Nobles and Ladies,
Our April 1st meeting was no joke. We had a great turnout of 47 for dinner. It was another good one.
The entertainment MC’d by Jo Black and performed by Noble Les Galst, Walt Pflum and Peggy Wilson was really outstanding. Noble Les and Walt, being in their 90’s put on one of the best soft shoe dance routines seen in a long time. Peggy Wilson sang a beautiful song and the three of them did a really cute skit. Check out the pictures in the photo section.
Our entertainment next month, May 6th will be the Dixie Bells. This is a group of ladies that do an excellent job of singing. Our Dinner will be Sausage & Peppers or Lemon Herb Chicken. Please join us at 5 PM for our Social Hour, then Dinner at 6 PM.
A proposed amendment to our By-laws was read and handed out to those present. Please read them over and bring your thoughts to our next meeting.
Noble Terry Nickols reported on the Fundraiser. It had a low turnout because of all the other things going on that day. Those who attended enjoyed some great food and spirits. Noble Terry said there would be another one in September the weekend after our meeting. Please keep that date open.
I am sorry to have to report the passing of Noble Ray O’Brien on Tuesday, March 30th. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Catherine and family.
The leadership meeting will be Monday, April 5th at Noble President Lane Buckley’s house at 6 PM. There will be a Fez frame workshop on Sunday, April 11th at 3 PM, also at Lane’s house. If you are able to lend a hand please come out and help.
Hopefully our onions will be here by our next meeting and sold. Noble Bill Cohrt said he could use all the help he can get. If you have some time, please lend a hand with this fundraiser.
Shriners International:
After 140 years the Imperial Council has thought it best, in today’s society, to be politically correct. The red fez with the scimitar and compass is now the emblem. We are no longer "The Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine", but are called "Shriners International." And to further update the fraternity all references to Islam has been removed.
If you look on the back of your Lake Havasu Shrine Club dues card you will find the procedures the Shrine Hospitals treat. So if anyone asks you, check the back of your card.
Yours in the Faith,
Noble Ray Tidwell

Nobles and Ladies,
Our March meeting was a great success. There were about 50 Nobles and their Ladies in attendance for this meeting. We had another excellent dinner of Chicken Fried Steak or Baked Lemon Herb Chicken.
Our speaker was Professor Paul Koch of Mohave Community College. He gave an excellent presentation on the history of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. It was well received by all. Thanks Noble Jim for another good speaker.
Noble Bob Van Slyke had to resign as secretary due to personal reasons. Noble Jim Woodyard was elected as Secretary to replace him. Noble Jim will be doing an outstanding job as he did in the past. Congratulations Noble Jim.
Noble President Buckley presented plaque’s to Noble Tom LaVelle and Lady Barbara LaVelle for all their contributions to our club. Brother Tom has filled about every position there is for our club and Lady Barbara has been our Sunshine Chair Lady for several years and supported Noble Tom all the way. Thanks a million for all you have done.
Our sincere appreciation to Noble Bill Cohrt for taking the Onion Chairman’s position. This is an important position as it is our main fund raiser for the year and the good it does for the Temple. Thanks for stepping up to the plate.
Noble Terry Nichols, Fundraiser Chairman will be having a BBQ of Brats and Chicken at his home on March 27th starting at noon and going to whenever. There will be horseshoes, miniature golf, and other games. Bring a guest and come enjoy all the fun. Noble Terry’s address is 3419 Hassayampa Dr., Lake Havasu City.
Noble Harry Bremner is working on setting up a trip for our members to visit the Salt Lake Hospital in April. He will have all the details at our April meeting.
Nobles,
I am the 2010 Onion Sales Chairman. I am asking for some of you Nobles that can help us sell Onions this year, to please call me @ 928-680-4178 or sign up at the next Shrine Dinner Meeting on April 1st. (Don't let the date scare you).
We are also taking advanced orders so you can sell some to your friends and neighbors while we still have some to sell, last year they went very fast and sold out in 3 days. We are expecting them to arrive some time in the last week of April to go on sale the next day.
With all of your help we should not have a problem selling all of them before they get too old. You know that this is our only fund raiser for all of the Children in the Shrine Hospitals across the United States. They need all the financial help they can get to remain open in desperate times. So I am asking for all the help we can get. Thank you so much for all of your support.
Noble, Bill Cohrt, 2010 Onion Chairman

Our entertainment for our April Meeting will be our own Noble Les Galst along with Walt Phflum and Peggy Wilson. It will be a great show, by some really talented people. You won’t want to miss it.
Our dinner will be a choice of Pork Chops or Vegetable Lasagna. Either one would be a good choice as all our dinners have been excellent. There will be a Reading for a proposed By-law Change.
Our next meeting will be April 1st, good ole April Fool's Day. This is no joke so plan on being there.
Yours in the Faith,
Noble Ray Tidwell
